SUNBEAM Yachts builds new shipyard in Upper Austria.
Tradition meets innovation: family business invests in modern production facility covering 7,000 m²
After more than 75 years of yacht building in Salzburg and more than four decades at the Mattsee site, the Austrian family shipyard SUNBEAM Yachts is continuing its growth course. The company is currently building a new, state-of-the-art production facility in neighboring Munderfing, Upper Austria. On an area of 7,000 square meters, a shipyard complex is being built that meets the highest standards of quality, efficiency and sustainability in yacht building.
“With the new building, we are not only creating space for state-of-the-art production technologies, but also the conditions to fundamentally optimize our work processes,” says Andreas Schöchl, Managing Director and shipyard manager in the third generation. “This is an important step into the future of SUNBEAM Yachts – and a clear commitment to Austria as a business location.”
The new production facility includes, among other things:
- a large production hall with integrated test basin and sprinkler system,
- modern office space and technical infrastructure,
- spacious storage and logistics areas and
- a separate 1,200 m² hall for winter storage and short-term buffering.
A total of around 30 employees will work in the new shipyard. The aim of the new building is to streamline production processes, reduce transport and handling times and at the same time further improve the quality of the yachts.
Completion is planned for mid-2026. Until then, operations in Mattsee will continue as usual.
